About

One question, asked properly, since 2001

CPA Eligible was founded in 2001 by L. A. Rogers, around a question nobody was answering well: whether an accounting degree earned outside the United States is enough to sit for the U.S. CPA exam. Twenty-five years later, it is still the only question we work on.

What We Do

We read foreign transcripts and count them against U.S. education requirements. Then we tell you which route fits you, what is missing if anything is, and in what order to do things.

It is narrow work, and we keep it narrow on purpose. Knowing a small number of routes to the level where you can argue about a three-hour gap is worth far more to you than a directory of all of them.

How We Work

By email, in writing, and slowly enough to be right. Eligibility questions turn on details, whether a paper counts as accounting or business, whether a three-year degree is a four-year equivalent, whether an institution is accredited in the way a board means, and those are easier to get right on a transcript than on a call.

Where an answer turns on a judgement call rather than arithmetic, we say so instead of picking the flattering reading. A candidate three hours from a threshold deserves to know they are three hours from a threshold.

How We Are Paid

Two ways, and both are disclosed. Candidates pay a fee for a transcript review. And we are a Becker CPA Review partner, which means we earn a commission when someone enrols with Becker through our link, that is why the review is free if you enrol in Becker Premium.

The obvious question is whether the commission bends the advice. It does not, and the structure is the reason: the commission is on exam preparation, and the advice is about jurisdiction and coursework. There is no version of our recommendation that sends more business to Becker. You should still ask questions like that of anyone in this market.
