Terms

Terms, in Plain Language

Last updated 28 September 2026. These terms govern the eligibility reviews provided by Backcross Advising Ltd. of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, trading as CPA Eligible.

The Refund Promise

If we recommend a jurisdiction and you turn out not to be eligible there, you get your money back.

To claim it, email info@cpaeligible.com and tell us what happened. We may ask for the board’s response or your evaluation report so that we can understand where our reading went wrong, that is for our learning, not an obstacle to your refund. There is no time limit on the claim. Two things it does not cover: third-party costs such as evaluation, board or exam fees, because that money went to someone else; and a finding of ineligibility that rests on records differing from the ones you gave us.

What we provide

A preliminary assessment of your likely eligibility to sit for the Uniform CPA Examination, a recommendation as to which jurisdiction suits you, and an explanation of what is missing. It is advisory. It is not a determination, an evaluation, or a legal opinion.

What we are not

We are not a state board of accountancy, NASBA, a credential evaluation service, a law firm, or an immigration adviser. Only a board decides your eligibility, and only an approved evaluation service produces the official conversion of your foreign education.

Your side of it

You give us accurate, complete documents. We cannot assess what we have not seen, and a review based on a partial transcript is a review of a partial transcript. If your records are later found to differ from what you sent us, our conclusions do not survive that, and neither does the refund promise. You are also responsible for the steps that are yours: applying on time, completing any coursework we identify, and meeting the board's non-education requirements.

Fees and payment

Our review fee is $249 USD, or $129 for existing Becker students on proof of enrolment, or nothing at all if you enrol in Becker Premium through our link. Fees are payable before the review begins. Third-party costs, credential evaluation, board applications, exam sections, coursework, are yours and are paid to those parties directly.

Affiliate relationships

We are a Becker CPA Review partner and earn a commission on enrolments made through our links. We disclose this on every page that carries such a link. It does not affect which jurisdiction we recommend to you, and you are under no obligation to enrol with anyone.

Rules change

Boards amend their requirements, sometimes at short notice, and several have done so recently. Advice given to you is accurate as at the date it is given, and we do not undertake to notify you of later changes unless we are actively working with you.

Limits on liability

Our liability arising from a review is limited to the fee you paid for it. We are not liable for third-party fees you incur, for board decisions, or for consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Your documents

Handled as described in our privacy notice. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operating entity is established, and disputes are subject to its courts.

Plain-language Terms

These are written to be understood rather than to be impressive. That is deliberate: most of our clients read English as a second or third language, and a term nobody can read protects nobody.
